Ivany Gleb Aleksandrovich
Artist, founder of IVANY GALLERY
Moscow, Russia
1999 y.o.
Multidisciplinary artist whose practice covers object-making, painting, drawing, sculpture, street art, and performance.
Author’s practice focuses on the relationship between artwork and viewer, on ways an artwork might exist apart from the viewer altogether. Ivany often constructs situations where elements within a work interact independently, or remain in a state of external uncertainty, creating distance from the spectator.
Grounded in a non-spectacular, concept-driven approach, his work draws on the legacy of conceptual art while combining strategies of readymade, symbolism, and realism. He works both with standalone pieces and with series.
Author’s visual language is restrained and minimalist. Most works use a mostly monochrome palette: black, grey, white, and golden-ochre tones. Themes of inaccessibility and the unknown recur as key sources of inspiration.
His works are held in private collections in Russia and Europe.
